I wish we had more digital photos, but we didn't do so good this time.  We will do our best to increase the number in our next update.

Sleepin' like a baby
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 10/29/2005 9:55 AM
I still say whoever came up with that phrase had to have had more than 1 kid because Kayleigh will wake up at the slightest noise and we try to keep noise around all the time so she wouldn't do that.  She did however sleep in her cirb last night from 9-6.  I was so proud of her.  It might have been a fluke but it is a good start.  Now she is resting on her daddy and I can't think of a sweeter sight other than the coming of Christ!

Firsts...Firsts...Firsts...
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 10/25/2005 8:01 PM

I was putting her clothes up in her room today and had placed her in the crib.  All of a sudden I heard laughing and turned around to see what had gotten her tickled.  She was standing up in her crib and was holding on to the top rail.  After I got over the shock, I sat her down and had a long talk with her to explain how she was still a baby and was not supposed to be standing up on her own or crawling around the house like she is doing.  Guess we will be lowering her crib again tonight.

That's because we are trying to get her to sleep in her crib by herself.  It is really hard.  Mostly because I want her to still stay in our bed.  But she needs to learn to sleep by herself and we need to let her learn it.  I know this is probably the easiest of all the lessons we have to teach her, but it's the hardest yet for me.

We got her a play yard to play in.  It looks l ...

I'm still here...
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 10/17/2005 11:31 PM
Yea, I know.  I haven't been very good at getting some blog time in.  It's tough trying to make sure I have plenty of time with Kayleigh and Kelly and at the same time maintain my current job and consulting business.  It is quite the challenge.

Kayleigh is growing up so fast.  Just tonight I saw something different in her.  She seemed to study me a lot tonight.  She would just stare and look at me for a good long time.  Normally she is so inquisitive about everything else around her that she doesn't really pay much attention to who is holding here.

It's amazing at how you see changes in her every few days.  One minute she can't sit up without you holding her, then she is able to sit up pretty well without help, to being able to scoot on the floor, to now being able to crawl.  Granted it is a slow crawl and depending on the outfit she can move slow or fast.  It's ju ...

Progress
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 10/17/2005 9:36 PM

Saturday, Kayleigh was scooting around and found her knees.  Now she is crawling.  Not really well yet, but she is getting there.  Now she has decided that she really likes peas.  And her cereal must taste really good with apple juice because she eats it really well.  She doesn't eat as well for me as with her daddy.  Tonight, however, she ate all of her cereal and then a whole jar of stage 1 peas.  She is really doing well with her solids.  She seems to like peas better than her squash.  Next week will be carrots.  I love watching her try new things.

She also likes it when you throw her up in the air.  She is guaranteed to laugh.  I really love watching and hearing her laugh.  I guess that is what people always call music to your ears.

It also amazes me how well she does with her daddy.  Last night, he had to put h ...

Crib Time
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 10/12/2005 11:25 AM
She is going to sleep better in her crib but is not sleeping very long.  Today she went down and only fussed a little then went to sleep.  However, she only slept about 10-15 min.  Just another day learning how to sleep.

Busy day
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 10/11/2005 10:19 PM
We had a busy day today.  We got up and played a while.  Then she took a nap in her crib.  It was only 15 minutes but a nap by herself in her crib nonetheless.  Then we met Daddy at the doctor's office.  She had a great 6 month checkup.  She weighs 15 lb  8 oz and is 26 in long.  She is getting to be such a big girl!  Then she had to get her shots.  She cried so hard but for only 5 minutes.  She did so well.  I was so proud of her.  Then we went to Wal-Mart and got her big girl food.  So for dinner she had cereal with apple juice in it and butternut squash.  She did so well with that too!  She ate all of her cereal and half of her squash.  You should have seen her face the first spoonful of squash.  She was like,"Mommy, what was that!"  She even shook her head as if she took a double take.  I didn't think she could get any cuter but she somehow managed to do it today.  I'll be interested in ...

Napping not for me
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 10/6/2005 6:11 PM
We are trying to get Kayleigh to take naps in her crib.  Everyone tells me that I just need to let her cry it out and she will eventually go to sleep.  It's not working for us.  She won't have anything to do with it.  It is killing me to let her cry it out.  My sister is so much better than I am when it comes to this whole teaching her to put herself to sleep thing.  I'm not digging it.  I have to leave the room when I lay her down.  If she is having a tantrum or in the car, I can handle it.  But just laying in her crib and crying...  it's not my thing.  I'd rather birth her all over again each time than to have to hear her crying and see those tears.  Especially when I know all I have to do is pick her up.  Guess I'm not a very good mommy.

Fun Firsts!
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/30/2005 3:20 PM
Where to start...  We got her a Jumparoo last week but she didn't know what to do with it.  Last Monday night, she was playing with her daddy and her legs buckled.  She bounced.  Then she figured it out and her eyes got big.  She laughed at her daddy and started jumping.  She jumped for 20 minutes.  She loves it.  On Tuesday, her daddy took her for a ride on the 4-wheeler on the driveway.  She's just like her mommy.  I loved it when me and my daddy went 4 wheelin'.  I have a feeling she is going to be a daddy's girl just like I was.  Now she is even tryng out her passy.  She has never liked it before and I doubt she will like it much for long but I'll take what I can get.  Pretty soon she will be also up to 2 servings of cereal a day.  I love watching her grow up.

Jumpin Bean
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/26/2005 9:13 PM
Kayleigh has a jumparoo that she got last weekend but hadn't figured out how it worked.  She loves jumping if you are holding her which was why we got her the jumparoo.  Tonight she figured it out and was so proud of herself.  She just laughed and grinned from ear to ear.  She jumped until she was tired out.  I was so proud of her for getting it!  I love watching her do something for the first time.  Her little eyes just light up and her whole face gets excited.  I love being a mom.

My rockin' baby
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/21/2005 9:32 PM
It is so hard to watch her get on all 4's and rock.  I am selfishly not ready for her to get going.  I want her to grow up but not too fast.  She is sitting up almost by herself and trying to crawl.  I want her to stay little adn she won't do it for me.  I guess I should get used to it.  She won't always mind me.  I just love her so much.  She is beautiful and sweet and so happy.  I wonder what she will be like in 15 yrs.  I hope she keeps her outlook.  It's my favorite thing about her along with her smile.

Kayleigh trying to be mobile
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 9/14/2005 12:22 AM
For the last 2 days Kayleigh has shown some real attemps at trying to crawl.  She has managed to get on all fours, but once she has gotten there she doesn't know what to do.

Actually today she tried to actually crawl, but kept slipping down on her belly.  She's a work'n those feet, but manages to only scoot just a bit... like a couple of inches... but she does move.  It takes way too much energy for her to move very far though.

I guess she could be in this mode quite a while, before actually getting anywhere.  Nonetheless, I have to keep my watchful eyes out for her trying to make an escape.

Growing up
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/12/2005 9:14 PM
Kayleigh has had a rough day today.  It's really busy at Miss Martha's with the other 2 babies.  She comes home really tired.  Greg said he put her on her stomach tonight and she got up on all 4's.  I'm not ready for her to be mobile.  She will loose her baby status when she does.  She also has started to jump when you stand her on her feet.  It's amazing how much she changes every day.  I'm trying to get a jumperoo for her.  Eventually, our Once Upon A Chid will have a used one.  It shouldn't take too long.  She will love it!  I look forward t oall of the nesw stages that she will grow into but I am already sad for the stages that she is growing out of.  I guess my selfishness is rearing its ugly head.

Such a beautiful smile
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 9/6/2005 10:36 PM

Kayleigh has such a beautiful smile.  Tonigh she just laughed, smiled, and talked so much.  It is so much fun just talking to her and watch her try to talk as if she is part of an indepth conversation.

We were a little worried she wouldn't go to sleep right away tonight since she seemed wide awake, but my amazement she went down in about 30 seconds.  I guess she was pretty tired after all.

Napping
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/5/2005 8:21 PM
So much for napping.  She won't even nap on the couch today.  It's like she knows that we want her to sleep by herself and she is rebellling.  I'm not very good at all of this.  She has been really fussy today because she won't take a nap.  Not even when I tried to rock her!

Growing up
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/3/2005 9:42 AM
Kayleigh is starting to get frustrated so fast these days.  She wants to be able to use her hands the way they are supposed to be used but she isn't there yet.  My first instinct is to give her what she is trying to get, but that won't teach her how to reach and grab.  It's hard to let her go there, but, if I don't, she will never learn.  I guess that's part of being a parent. Sometimes I think I have more to learn that she does.

Lots of time with Kayleigh tonight
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 9/2/2005 3:02 AM

Tonight I got to spend a lot of time with Kayleigh.  I got to feed her, play with her, and bathe her.

The feeding part is pretty easy.  I think I got that one down pat.  The changing diapers is pretty easy as well.  Just gotta clean the mess... and hey, I have been cleaning myself for years now. LOL.

I am always up for a little play time so that's pretty easy to.  Now the bathing thing is a little tricky.  First off I don't like the feel of soap on my skin, much less all over my hands while I wash Kayleigh... but of course I love her and will suffer the slippery hands for her.  Along with the slippery hands comes the slippery baby.

It's not hard washing Kayleigh while she is laying down... it is when you have to hold her up that is tricky.  Not to mention being down on your hands and knees hanging over the edge of a tub doing this... not ...

Napping Challenge
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 9/1/2005 11:10 AM
Napping has always been an issue at home.  Miss Martha, Kayleigh's babysitter, says she naps by herself in the packnplay and puts herself to sleep.  So today Kayleigh will start taking her naps in her crib.  It will be a long few weeks.  But don't worry, Aunt Whitney,  she will still be sleeping with Mommy at night :)  This will make it easier to get her to sleep in her crib at night when we are ready to move in that direction.

Mommy's little Piglet
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 8/30/2005 8:45 PM

Tonight daddy had to work late so I got to feed Kayleigh.  I finally found her limit.  She seemed full after 4 tbsp of cereal.  What a little piglet :)Guess she will have her mommy's appetite after all.  Let's hope she has her Aunt Whitney's and Granddaddy's metabolism.  Greg and I pray that we are doing the right thing by starting her on solids since I had such bad allergies.  I guess this is where faith comes in.  She is such a great baby!  God has truely blessed me with a wonderful little baby and the best daddy I could have asked for her. I so hope that she will be a daddy's girl when she grows up.

Bath Time
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 8/28/2005 10:03 PM

I got together with my small group guys and celebrated Patrick Palifrone's baptism.  It was great seeing Patrick's baptism and a lot of fun celebrating afterwords.

Since this was going on tonight I didn't get to participate in Kayleigh's bath time.  Tuesday night will be my turn to give her a bath.  I have mainly assisted in bath time... now it is time to get a little wet.

I've been doing the diaper thing for quite a while.  Since I have a poor sense of smell it never bothers me and it's actually quite easy to do.  I don't know why guys have such a problem with it.  I can usually get Kayleigh smiling pretty big during this time.  She likes the temporary freedom she gets when the diapers come off.  I don't dare leave them off too long though.

First Baptism
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 8/28/2005 8:44 PM
We took Kayleigh to her first baptism tonight at the river.  It was hot and she just wanted air conditioning.  She is her father's girl!  My prayer is that one day it will be her in the river professing Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  Then I can breath a little easier.  I just want our kids to love Christ more than they love us.

Frustration
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 8/28/2005 7:56 PM
She is really starting to get frustrated when she tries to chew on something. She can't get it in her mouth the right way and then she gets mad.  I know I have to let her learn but it is so funny to watch her learn.  She just wants to put everything in her mouth and when it doesn't work, she cries.  I let her go until I see tears.  I figure she's had enough by then.  It's a learning process for both of us.  I sure have been blessed by God!

Eating
Momma Kelly's Blog By Kelly Saunders on 8/28/2005 7:55 PM
She downed her cereal tonight like it was candy!  She did great.  Guess she is getting the hang of it.  Wonder how long it will take until she eats a full serving?  All I know is she loves to eat.

This eating by spoon thing is a difficult thing.
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 8/28/2005 12:13 AM
Hmmm... Kayleigh is indeed eating by spoon, but it gets a little messy.  There must be a learning curve to this.  Not just for Kayleigh, but for me to.  Somehow I ended up with some food on me.  Crazy isn't it?

Learning to crawl - with some assistance.
Daddy Greg's Blog By Greg Saunders on 8/27/2005 4:00 PM
LOL... Kayleigh gets to laughing when I help her crawl.  Actually she cannot crawl, but when she thinks she is making some progress, with a little help from Daddy, she starts to smil'n.  She is such fun.
