I'm still here...

Yea, I know. I haven't been very good at getting some blog time
in. It's tough trying to make sure I have plenty of time with
Kayleigh and Kelly and at the same time maintain my current job and
consulting business. It is quite the challenge.

Kayleigh is growing up so fast. Just tonight I saw something
different in her. She seemed to study me a lot tonight. She
would just stare and look at me for a good long time. Normally
she is so inquisitive about everything else around her that she doesn't
really pay much attention to who is holding here.

It's amazing at how you see changes in her every few days. One
minute she can't sit up without you holding her, then she is able to
sit up pretty well without help, to being able to scoot on the floor,
to now being able to crawl. Granted it is a slow crawl and
depending on the outfit she can move slow or fast. It's just
awesome to see her grow.

I look forward to when we can interact even more, but I better be careful to not rush things.

Well... gotta go for now.

Greg
Kayleigh trying to be mobile

For the last 2 days Kayleigh has shown some real attemps at trying to
crawl. She has managed to get on all fours, but once she has
gotten there she doesn't know what to do.

Actually today she tried to actually crawl, but kept slipping down on
her belly. She's a work'n those feet, but manages to only scoot
just a bit... like a couple of inches... but she does move. It
takes way too much energy for her to move very far though.

I guess she could be in this mode quite a while, before actually
getting anywhere. Nonetheless, I have to keep my watchful eyes
out for her trying to make an escape.
Such a beautiful smile

Kayleigh has such a beautiful smile. Tonigh she just laughed, smiled, and talked so much. It is so much fun just talking to her and watch her try to talk as if she is part of an indepth conversation.

We were a little worried she wouldn't go to sleep right away tonight since she seemed wide awake, but my amazement she went down in about 30 seconds. I guess she was pretty tired after all.

Lots of time with Kayleigh tonight

Tonight I got to spend a lot of time with Kayleigh. I got to feed her, play with her, and bathe her.

The feeding part is pretty easy. I think I got that one down
pat. The changing diapers is pretty easy as well. Just
gotta clean the mess... and hey, I have been cleaning myself for years
now. LOL.

I am always up for a little play time so that's pretty easy
to. Now the bathing thing is a little tricky. First off I
don't like the feel of soap on my skin, much less all over my hands
while I wash Kayleigh... but of course I love her and will suffer the
slippery hands for her. Along with the slippery hands comes the
slippery baby.

It's not hard washing Kayleigh while she is laying down... it is
when you have to hold her up that is tricky. Not to mention being
down on your hands and knees hanging over the edge of a tub doing
this... not the most comfortable position.

Yea it sounds like I am complaining... I'm not... I had a great time
taking care of Kayleigh tonight. I was trying to give my
beautiful wife a little break tonight.

Oh well... it is practically morning now so I better get some sleep for now!

Bath Time

I got together with my small group guys and celebrated Patrick Palifrone's baptism. It was great seeing Patrick's baptism and a lot of fun celebrating afterwords.

Since this was going on tonight I didn't get to participate in Kayleigh's bath time. Tuesday night will be my turn to give her a bath. I have mainly assisted in bath time... now it is time to get a little wet.

I've been doing the diaper thing for quite a while. Since I have a poor sense of smell it never bothers me and it's actually quite easy to do. I don't know why guys have such a problem with it. I can usually get Kayleigh smiling pretty big during this time. She likes the temporary freedom she gets when the diapers come off. I don't dare leave them off too long though.

This eating by spoon thing is a difficult thing.

Hmmm... Kayleigh is indeed eating by spoon, but it gets a little messy. There must be a learning curve to this. Not just for Kayleigh, but for me to. Somehow I ended up with some food on me. Crazy isn't it?

Learning to crawl - with some assistance.

LOL... Kayleigh gets to laughing when I help her crawl. Actually she cannot crawl, but when she thinks she is making some progress, with a little help from Daddy, she starts to smil'n. She is such fun.

Kayleigh's first solids... well more like mushy liquid.

Well I got home tonight and got to feed baby Kayleigh with a spoon. She took the spoon a little better than I thought she would. I guess it was more like pouring the liquidy mush (rice cereal) in her mouth then having her eat it off the spoon, but she did great keeping down. I think she took in more air than normal though... but she gave a good burp.

I played with Kayleigh for a while on the floor, but as normal she only lasted about 20 minutes before she was ready for some new scenery. It's amazing how she goes through phases. For a week or so she seems very easy going and then the next week she is very fusy. Don't you just wish you knew what was going on all the time?

Oh well... I'll have to wait til she starts talking to help diagnose her frustrations or problems.

Wow... Let me say I really don't like messing with digital photos. They are so time consuming. Well... I have been hounded enough, so the photo gallery is up and ready for visitors. Just click on the Photos menu.

I will do my best to continue keeping this updated and add more pictures regularly. Enjoy!
