Still here

Sorry we haven't blogged in a while. We have been very busy. Kayleigh had croup 2 wks ago. It scared me to death. I hadnever heard that cough before and I hope she never has it again. She was ok for a few days and then she developed a low grade fever. We went to the doctor after 3 dys. Now she is congested. It is hard to get anything done when she just wants to sit in my lap and be loved on. I didn't mind. I love holding her and she is becoming quite the little Miss Independent.

Sleepy girl

Kayleigh isn't feeling well. I am not sure if she has a cold or is teething and it's just wearing her out. But of course she won't sleep. She is really fussy too.

Doin' well

She is doing so well in her crib. I put her down after she eats and then pat her sweet little back. She goes right down. So far, she has slept for at least 5+ hrs at a time once she is down. Granted, she sleeps longer and I get more rest when she sleeps with me. However, she is making noises and still putting herself back to sleep. I'm so proud of her.

Sleepin' like a baby

I still say whoever came up with that phrase had to have had more than 1 kid because Kayleigh will wake up at the slightest noise and we try to keep noise around all the time so she wouldn't do that. She did however sleep in her cirb last night from 9-6. I was so proud of her. It might have been a fluke but it is a good start. Now she is resting on her daddy and I can't think of a sweeter sight other than the coming of Christ!

Firsts...Firsts...Firsts...

I was putting her clothes up in her room today and had placed her in the crib. All of a sudden I heard laughing and turned around to see what had gotten her tickled. She was standing up in her crib and was holding on to the top rail. After I got over the shock, I sat her down and had a long talk with her to explain how she was still a baby and was not supposed to be standing up on her own or crawling around the house like she is doing. Guess we will be lowering her crib again tonight.

That's because we are trying to get her to sleep in her crib by herself. It is really hard. Mostly because I want her to still stay in our bed. But she needs to learn to sleep by herself and we need to let her learn it. I know this is probably the easiest of all the lessons we have to teach her, but it's the hardest yet for me.

We got her a play yard to play in. It looks like a really small baby jail. Not sure if I like it or not but it will keep her from getting into trouble and by us some selfish time since we don't have the house childproof yet. I have put all her favorite toys in it and she seems to liek it so far but she hasn't tried to get out yet. It's coming though. She is way to curious and active to be content sitting in a small area. It will just keep her safe when I need to leave the room. That is my main goal.

She is still the light of our life next to Jesus Christ. We are truely blessed beyond what we could have ever possibly imagined!

Progress

Saturday, Kayleigh was scooting around and found her knees. Now she is crawling. Not really well yet, but she is getting there. Now she has decided that she really likes peas. And her cereal must taste really good with apple juice because she eats it really well. She doesn't eat as well for me as with her daddy. Tonight, however, she ate all of her cereal and then a whole jar of stage 1 peas. She is really doing well with her solids. She seems to like peas better than her squash. Next week will be carrots. I love watching her try new things.

She also likes it when you throw her up in the air. She is guaranteed to laugh. I really love watching and hearing her laugh. I guess that is what people always call music to your ears.

It also amazes me how well she does with her daddy. Last night, he had to put her to sleep because she was crying so hard and I couldn't take it. I knew she needed to put herself to sleep and I just wanted to nurse her. Greg had the nerves of steel to lay with her and sing to her until she finally stopped crying and sleep. He is such a great daddy. She is so blessed and so are we! I love being her mommy. Tomorrow is another day and another new smile to see. I can't wait!

She has all of the motion but hasn't put it together yet. It won't be long before she is folloeing me instead of the other way around. I'm not ready for her to move up in the nursery at church either.

Crib Time

She is going to sleep better in her crib but is not sleeping very long. Today she went down and only fussed a little then went to sleep. However, she only slept about 10-15 min. Just another day learning how to sleep.

Busy day

We had a busy day today. We got up and played a while. Then she took a nap in her crib. It was only 15 minutes but a nap by herself in her crib nonetheless. Then we met Daddy at the doctor's office. She had a great 6 month checkup. She weighs 15 lb 8 oz and is 26 in long. She is getting to be such a big girl! Then she had to get her shots. She cried so hard but for only 5 minutes. She did so well. I was so proud of her. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got her big girl food. So for dinner she had cereal with apple juice in it and butternut squash. She did so well with that too! She ate all of her cereal and half of her squash. You should have seen her face the first spoonful of squash. She was like,"Mommy, what was that!" She even shook her head as if she took a double take. I didn't think she could get any cuter but she somehow managed to do it today. I'll be interested in seeing how she does tomorrow. God has TRUELY blessed us!

Napping not for me

We are trying to get Kayleigh to take naps in her crib. Everyone tells me that I just need to let her cry it out and she will eventually go to sleep. It's not working for us. She won't have anything to do with it. It is killing me to let her cry it out. My sister is so much better than I am when it comes to this whole teaching her to put herself to sleep thing. I'm not digging it. I have to leave the room when I lay her down. If she is having a tantrum or in the car, I can handle it. But just laying in her crib and crying... it's not my thing. I'd rather birth her all over again each time than to have to hear her crying and see those tears. Especially when I know all I have to do is pick her up. Guess I'm not a very good mommy.
